Real Bread || Real Food
At Small State Provisions, we make bread the old-fashioned way: small batches, by hand. We use no commercial yeast but instead, rely on live active Sourdough starter. Made with little more than flour, salt, water, and time, our bread is deeply satisfying and delicious. Each loaf takes more than 24 hours from start to finish.
We source local when we can, and our bread is made with 100% organic flour. We think it's the best you'll find.
Located inside GastroPark, we bake fresh sourdough bread Thursday through Sunday. In addition to bread, we also offer a daily selection of seasonally driven baked goods made with 100% organic flour as well as our famous Olive Oil Maple Granola.
Pre-ordering bread and granola is available for pick up at our bakery in GastroPark, however, we will have a limited quantity avaialble in the bakery for purchase on a first come basis.

About Small State Provisions
Founded in 2019, as a Cottage Bakery Small State Provisions specializes in naturally leavened sourdough bread and small batch granola. We've recently expanded into our first brick and mortar bakery located inside GastroPark in West Hartford, CT
Founder, head baker, and everything in between, Kevin Masse relocated to the Hartford area after spending 10 years living and working in New York City. Along with his husband, Michael, and their two Brussels Griffons (Huxley & Orwell), he resides in the Bishops Corner area of West Hartford.
Kevin has been passionate about food since he was a child. Growing up watching his grandmother and both of his parents in the kitchen, cooking and baking became integral pieces of Kevin's life. Kevin’s sourdough journey began when he met local cookbook author Terry Walters. Through his friendship with Terry, and some hands-on practice, Kevin jumped head first into Sourdough bread baking and began experimenting with various techniques and ingredients that have grown into what is now the foundation of Small State Provisions.
We don’t rely on anything artificial to stabilize or prolong the shelf life of our bread. Our bread is easy to digest, and we use local ingredients when we can. We’re sure that once you try our bread (and granola) you’ll become part of the family for life.
